Why We Are Here:
The United States has an enormous cultural, economic and spiritual influence on the modern world. Since its beginning, the United States has strived to preserve the dream of its founding fathers to live in peace with one another and to serve as one nation under God. However, Americans have always wrestled with the identity of our heart and experienced much civil, spiritual, social, and economic turmoil. Early struggles regarding the human dignity of American Indians, African slaves, and women, as well as freedom of religion, are a part of the conflicted history. Today, Americans fiercely battle the confusion and even denial of their true identities as children of God. The most basic of human rights, the right to life and the protection of unborn children, is constantly under attack, as well as the sacredness of God’s design for marriage and family. Drug and alcohol abuse, suicide and depression are all increasing at staggering rates, and the unsatiable addictions of internet pornography and materialism have crippled the American culture. The consequences of seeking peace for restless hearts with things of the world rather than God are unmistakably apparent.
Beloit, Kansas is located in the Diocese of Salina and only 50 miles from the geographic center of the United States. It is our hope that the establishment of a World Center for Peace/Perpetual EucharisticAdoration Chapel in the heart of the United States, devoted to intentionally praying for peace, will radiate peace throughout the entire nation and beyond.
